An ordinary night out with ‘The Boys’ turns into a nightmare when sixteen-year-old Tom, driven by the desire to fit in, makes a series of reckless decisions.

Claire Phillips and Cassie Kelly have worked together for a number of years, meeting while studying at the University of Technology, Sydney. Since this time, Cassie and Claire have produced several short films, and currently have a slate of projects in development.

Claire and Cassie’s graduate film Tundra was the recipient of the Kodak Award in 2008, and won Best Film at Canberra Short Film Festival and Best Overall Film at UTS Golden Eye in 2009. In 2010, it has been selected for numerous Festivals, including Dungog Film Festival, Angry Film Festival and Boo Hoo Film Festival.

Claire and Cassie are committed to producing a slate of outstanding short films in 2010. This includes The Boys, and an adaptation of Mandy Sayer’s acclaimed short story We Want Our Dealer Back.

The Boys aims to further the conversation about the realities of underage drinking, peer pressure and the reckless decisions that are made as a consequence. It is a rare exhibition of Australia’s adolescent suburban culture, and an exploration of the topical issue of teen binge drinking.
